Ashley McIntosh

BA, MA (pending designation)

From 2005 to 2010, Ashley combined her Psychology degree with life coaching and nutrition certifications to help women heal from disordered eating through private sessions and group workshops. In 2010, she ended her practice to become a mother of two children and to co-create and facilitate the iGirl workshop with Saleema Noon

After directing the iGirl workshop and co-creating the iGuy workshop for 6 years, in 2016 Ashley decided to bring their messages to younger children by creating the iKid workshop.

It is for iKid that Ashley wrote The Girl and the Sun.  It serendipitously transformed into a picture book and a wonderful tool for anyone wanting to continue Ashley’s teachings in the home and classroom, so she decided to publish it and make it available to everyone.

Ashley is now working as a counsellor in an addiction recovery centre. She provides one-on-one and group therapy to clients healing from addiction, trauma, and disordered eating. She has been surprised at the response to The Girl and the Sun book in the centre as it tends to summarize the healing journey beautifully for the clients there.

Ashley’s vulnerability in expressing her own fears and sharing her transformation is nothing less than courageous and inspires courage in others. Through her teaching, I have learned to trust my own intuition and embrace my deepest fears as my greatest gifts. I am so grateful to have received her light and contribution.
