Ashley & The Sun Workshops

Ashley McIntosh has led workshops on personal awareness, emotional health, and kindness for over 15 years, working with thousands of children and adults.

With the widely respected educational group led by Saleema Noon, Ashley helped create the iGirl, iGuy and iKid self-development workshops taught in schools across BC.

For her workshops, Ashley developed three playful metaphors (the sun, the cloud, and the rainbow) to help individuals become aware of their emotions, thoughts and hearts.

Ashley’s children’s book offers these metaphors in a beautifully endearing story so, along with her workshops and website resources, parents can have honest and effective conversations with kids about these deeply important subjects.

“My daughter was full of enthusiasm last night after the workshop – she loved it! She made me close my eyes and breathe and picture my cloud…she really took in the messages and enjoyed the time. She said that’s the most she has laughed all year!”

A fun and action-filled 1.5-hour self-development workshop for parent and child (grade K-3) to experience together.  Through story-telling, group activity, movement, art, and role-play, parents and their children gain a thorough understanding of their emotions, thoughts, and hearts as they relate to self-esteem, kindness, and friendship.

Often taken after the parent and child workshop.  In this 1.5-hour parent-only workshop, parents learn how to use Ashley’s three metaphors in real-life situations to support their children as they grow from life’s challenges, including:
·      self-love
·      relationships
·      bullying
·      self-regulation
·      stress or anxiety
·      participating in sports, activities, and school
·      making smart choices
·      choosing their passions

The underlying theme of Ashley’s teachings is support for the parent.  She believes that in order to be a loving parent to your children you need to be a loving parent to yourself. In this workshop, parents also learn to support themselves as they walk their own journey of personal growth so they can best support kids as they walk theirs.

“Ashley’s workshops are meaningful, interesting and interactive. Ashley has great energy, passion, and empathy. The workshops have wonderful flow and a variety of activities to keep participants engaged. I can’t think of anything to improve them.”

In this session, teachers learn to use the sun and cloud metaphors from The Girl and The Sun book and Ashley’s parent and child workshop as a theme throughout the year to help create a culture of kindness in the classroom.  Reinforcing the skills of personal awareness and self-regulation, and also how kindness to others instills communication and social responsibility, The Girl and the Sun is truly a useful tool for the classroom.
